James F Simpson AGSM

James is a celebrated music writer. After graduating from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama he wrote and directed Ulysses, a children’s rock opera, which had a sell-out run at the Rainbow theatre, was filmed for BBC Television and won the Italian best International Children’s Film Award.

He has written music for television, films and records. Television programmes include Noel’s House Party, Spitting Image, Through the Keyhole, Feature Blood Tide, Linda La Plante’s award winning drama, ‘Hidden Talents’ and major commercials including Peugeot, Ford, Kelloggs, Natwest Bank, Barclaycard, Fiat and Cadburys. James has worked with Tina Turner, Nils Lofgren from the E Street band and Earth Wind and Fire and the Phoenix Horns. Television appearances include Noel’s House Party and the drama Call Me Mister

He has produced series for ITV and Channel Four as well as developing projects in North America with HBO and USA Network, and in 2003 co-created, with Objective Television, the successful Channel 4, Bedsitcom, which was nominated for a 2004 Rose D’Or award. He also produced a past life regression series Time Traveller for ITV,  starring celebrities and members of the public.

James has been involved with the financing and/or the producing of twenty-four films, on many of which James Simpson was Executive Producer/Producer, including the BAFTA nominated Merchant Of Venice, starring Al Pacino, Jeremy Irons and Joseph Fiennes, Head In The Clouds, starring Charlize Theron and Penelope Cruz, The Bridge of San Luis Rey starring Robert DeNiro, Kathy Bathes, Harvey Keitel and Gabriel Byrne, A Different Loyalty, starring Sharon Stone and Rupert Everett, and The Statement starring Michael Caine. The River King starring Ed Burns and Jennifer Ehle, Guy X starring Jason Biggs, Perfect Creature starring Dougray Scott and Saffron Burrows and Beowolf starring Gerard Butler.

James has been involved with creative consulting for the new digital technology sector, IPTV (Internet Protocol television), delivering global digital media distribution via the internet.

James has performed masterclass’s  in ‘Independent Film’ at two Universities and a masterclass in ‘Film Acting’ for the ‘Red Hot Entertainment’ talent agency.

BAFTA nomination. The Merchant Of Venice, (Al Pacino, Jeremy Irons, Joseph Fiennes), which  had a Royal Premiere in the presence of HRH The Prince Of Wales on 29th November  2004.

James has acted as media advisor for two film funds.  He has helped close the finance on three new films. Jabberwocky and Sinbad,  remakes of  the classics,  as Australian productions with the  Sci Fi Channel, and My Angel, a UK productions with cast including Brenda Blethyn and Timothy Spall.

James has recently produced the British Comedy ‘Run for Your Wife, from the international hit play by Ray Cooney, featuring a huge celebrity cast, including Danny Dyer, Sarah Harding, Denise Van Outen, Neil Morrissey, Dame Judi Dench and Cliff Richard.

James is currently in pre-production on a ‘Definition of Fear’ – a psychological horror film, starring Jacqueline Fernandez, the Bollywood Star and filming in Canada, which he has written and is to direct.

James has just co-written the film script for Peter James’s,  international best selling book, ‘Dead Simple’ – a crime thriller set in the UK.   James is to co-produce the movie.

James  is also to produce the US teen horror ‘Hell Page’ set in a film school in New York , co -written with Peter James.
